Description
Antique Keris, Indonesian Sword Dagger from Madura Donorico East Java. This Kris consists of three parts. The blade (Wilah) hilt (hulu) and the sheath (warangka). This asymmetrical dagger has distinctive blade patterning achieved through alternating laminations of iron and nickelous iron and is distinctive for its wavy blade complemented with gold from the top part with a winged elephant design throughout the centre of the blade. The tang is beautifully hand carved from rosewood. the sheath consists of teak wood and is complemented with a decorative hand etched silver metal body. These are objects of status and are one of the most important within the Javanese society and is a blend of Hindu, animist and Islamic traditions.
